IHLG Postal Comp.

This message from: Ron Russell (hiflier@siodach.demon.co.uk)
Hi all, this is a reminder to you all that the next IHLG POSTAL COMP.
will soon be taking place, right in the Christmas holiday period.
Let's hope that we can get a big response to this event and make it the
biggest event yet.
The rules are being slightly modified to accommodate more entries.
The rounds can be flown on ANY DAY DURING THE PERIOD OF MARCH 27/28 1999, ENDING ON APRIL4 1999.
Right now here are the rules again for anyone who does not know them.
INTERNATIONAL HAND LAUNCH POSTAL COMPETITION
The above competition was conceived after a few correspondences through
E- MAIL and NEWSGROUPS. Much discussion took place, and the following
set of rules were agreed to be tried on this venture.
- Open to all who wish to enter, provided that proper model flying insurance cover is owned by the participants, and that the correct radio frequencies are being used as stated by the relevant national bodies for model flying.
- Individual and Team entries to be accepted. (2 person teams).
- Entry is free.
- There are no prizes, except the glory.
- MODEL DETAILS: 60" MAX. WINGSPAN.
- UNLIMITED CONTROLS, up to 6 servoes if you want.
- F.A.I. weight restrictions.
- FLYING SITE: Flat field site (normal club field). Maximum landing area 150 metres diameter.
- Competition flights can be made at any time during the designated weekend.
- MAXIMUM number of launches=10 (TEN LAUNCHES MAXIMUM).
- In the event of a tie on flight times (after normalisation and totalling of all 4 rounds), then the competitor with the least number of launches will be deemed the winner.
- All launches to be from upwind half of this area, (centre of each field to be arranged and marked by local site organiser).
- All launches must be made by hand. The use of bungee, catapult or other launching aid is strictly forbidden.
- The pilot does not need to be the launcher, but the pilot and his model must be reunited between throws, (pilot must touch model).
- The flying can be in groups (using an open or f3j slot timer) or as individuals.
- All landings must be within the designated area to score.
- 4 rounds of flying to be scored by each competitor. One round = one 10 minute slot.
- The slot will start at a mutually agreed time between competitor and time keeper .
- The maximum airtime is to be attained within the 10 minute slot.
- The maximum individual flight to be 2 minutes. Any airborne time over the 2 minute max. is discounted (clock stops at 2 minutes).
- Absolute minimum no. of launches will therefore be 5.
- Hand catching is permissible.
- In hand time counts as non-flying time.
- Flight times and no. of launches to be returned to local co-ordinator, and then returned to I.H.L.G.P.C. Organiser.
- It would be appreciated if the local co-ordinators could supply some details about weather conditions, models and anything else which might be of interest to the other competitors.
- SCORING: 1 point per second of airborne time.
- All competitors individual round scores to be returned within 3 weeks of official competition date to event organiser.
- Highest individual score =1000 points,( to be checked by event organiser). All other scores to be given a % of the winning score.
- All 4 rounds scores to decide overall placing.
- RESULTS will be posted to clubs and individuals concerned and published through E- MAIL and the modelling press.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS ARE ALWAYS LAST.
THE NEXT EVENT WILL BEGIN ON THE WEEKEND OF
MARCH 27/28 1999, ENDING ON APRIL4 1999,
giving you 9 full days to get your results in, please be
sure to tell your friends. That I hope covers everything, if there are any queries then contact me at one of the following addresses.
